Saturday painting Nortonville, California
Last Saturday, 4 painters went to Nortonville to paint Almond trees and cows. It was a very beautiful place for plein air. We are going back again this Saturday, the 22nd.

MIDDLE HARBOR, CRANES WITH PALETTE KNIFE
At Middle Harbor Park, I let loose with palette knives on a small canvas. The industrial cranes fly over the new silver and white glistening span of the Bay Bridge and land near the autumnal colored shipping containers. I feel personally attached to Middle Harbor Park as I realized that this park is built on the site of the Oakland Naval Station where my father was stationed during WWII. I could imagine him standing and looking out onto the San Francisco Bay and commenting on it's beauty.

Painting at Middle Harbor
Middle Harbor park is right next to the Port of Oakland. The city looms across the bay and huge ships move slowly by. We had two nice sessions there and plan on going back next week. There are great contrasts in landscape and man made structures. Lisa Greenstein sent this painting in oil on board that beautifully describles some of the contrasts and especially shows the wonderful sky we had after the rain the day before.
