View of the Bay

I painted this watercolor and ink some time ago during one of my first outings with the group. It is a long composition: 5 1/4" x 14 1/2" I gazed out at her beauty and painted quickly, basking in her azure-lavender, always changing loveliness, San Francisco's eloquence.

A comment to accompany my painting: Painting this picture has left me appreciating the area and its colorful culture. For example, there was a wildly decorated truck in the Food Market parking lot.

East Bay Landscape Painters is a group of artists of all media, styles and levels of experience. We meet once a week to paint outdoors in the parks and cities east of the San Francisco Bay Area.

It was on January 3rd, 2007 that Karen Zullo Sherr and Rebeca Garcia-Gonzalez went on the first outing of the East Bay Landscape Painters. Their only agreement was to paint outdoors weekly. Not soon after, they invited others and later came the blog. Betsy Kendall and Sharon Hind-Smith joined as coordinators. Today the group boasts an active mailing list of over 250 members. On any given Monday one can find 10-15 painters at the group's painting locations. The EBLP has had two ELBP shows and has great plans for the future. It continues to be a volunteer-run group, with camaraderie and mutual support as its values.
