Seven Days Later at Lake Anza

Then I decided to do another, smaller (16 x 20") painting of the same Lake Anza spot, using the same palette: ultramarine blue, pthalo blue, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow, pthalo green, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, permanent violet and titanium white. So the palette was the same for both paintings, but the color harmonies ended up being quite different. The woman in both paintings is Fran Osborne. Rebeca

  1. Wonderful treatment of the water surface. The criss-crossing pattern of lines perfectly suggests ripples and broken reflections. The different shades of blue convey the sky very nicely. My eye goes to the actual trees and dry land only belatedly, and it's funny how restful and calm those still images seem, compared to the quivering reflections that catch my eye first.
