Clark Road, Wildcat Canyon

This was a very umbrella or mushroom shaped Buckeye tree with Lichen covered branches and brand new foliage. The trick was getting the lichen to stand out without losing the umbrella shape. I continue to experiment with textures on this, using the toothbrush spatter to soften the dry-brush and the fan brush to create grass.

  1. I remember that tree. The first time I went up that hill, I was amazed at the color of the trunk with the lichen on it. The shape was very interesting too, it must have been late fall, because there were not leaves, just a few seed pods hanging and I had no idea what kind of tree it was then. The busyness of the branches was too intimidating. I was drawing trees with pencil at the time.
