I spent a while on a small oil sketch that didn't work out too well and about 15 minutes on this really quick sketch on oil/canvas paper that worked much better when I wasn't trying too hard. The clouds kept moving in and out and in some places the green was incredibly bright and intense for short bursts and then dull again. (Fran)

  1. I get the intensity you are talking about from your color choices, which I like. It was an incredibly beautiful day because of the clean air. What blue did you use for the sky? It really worked. The passing clouds did change the color scheme, and this was a challenge for me as well.

  2. Really nice color saturation in that day's paintings. (I sneaked a peak at the other one and I rather like that one too with its reflections). That green grass and blue, blue sky - it doesn't get much better in the Bay Area, does it? I'm jealous that I was stuck in my cubicle!

  3. It seems a little dark, but I suspect it is the photograph that is dark because I see a shadowy part on the right side. I like the color, I wish I had seen it in person.

  5. I like this one a lot. You convey the scene without excessive detail. Beautiful colors.
