Expectations at Miller Knox

I liked the variety at Miller Knox park and only got to paint in one location over the two sessions. I hope the group goes back soon. On the first try I had blocked in a composition that I continued on the second visit. There was a group of people who sat at the picnic table in the distance for a little while and I built the picture around them. I enjoyed this painting and the other small one I did and felt the process had let me forgot about the outcome more successfully than usual. Hope to be able to push this direction more.

  1. I think that must be Fran painting in the top image. After seeing the one with the people at the picnic tables, I took a hard look across the water to the colors under the trees. I was surprised by the intensity of the orange/reds. You captured that here.

  2. I like going to places more than one time for this reason. The painting in person had even stronger colors and they really belong, on account of the kind of day it was and the noon time light. Did you revise the smaller one? I remember the yellow as lemon yellow.

  3. good memory Rebeca! No the painting did the acrylic thing and dried a little darker so the lemon was not as lemony. I did that one in about 15 minutes so I never got make adjustments.

  4. These are both wonderful and kind of dreamy – agree with Larry about the intensity of colors - reds and oranges and really like the way you worked the water/reflections too - because they have lots of movement

  5. It reminds me of our work picnics there - I like your figures - they always look like they are having interesting conversations.
